Rhonda Chieduch, a Canadian book publisher and owner of On The Way Books and More, a publishing outfit situated in Alberta, Canada, is yet to pay Daniel Fidelis, a Lagos State-based writer, the outstanding $441.48 payment she owes him for the services he rendered as an editor.

FIJ first reported about Chieduch’s refusal to pay Fidelis the sum on October 1.

“Till we speak, Rhonda Chieduch has refused to pay me my money,” Fidelis told FIJ on Monday.

An Invoice Fidelis Had Sent to Chieduch, Asking for His Payment

“I sent her an email on the issue in November and while responding to me, she insisted she was not owing me any money, adding that she would no longer respond if I sent additional emails on the issue.

“My $441.48 is still with her and she has refused to pay me.”

On October 1, FIJ reported how Chieduch hired Fidelis for her publishing outfit’s editing and proofreading jobs. Fidelis was employed on October 13, 2022.

In the contract that was signed by both parties, Fidelis was expected to earn a little over $660 at the time, but the payment would be made in instalments.

As time went on, however, Chieduch only paid Fidelis a naira equivalent of $219.43. This was after the editor had protested several times, demanding for a part of the payment to be made to him.

Since then, the Canadian publisher has yet to make a balance payment of $441.48 to the Nigerian. She also went on to block him on all social media platforms, leaving email correspondence as their only means of communication.
